This is the story of the longest-running English literary magazine at any German university...
In the begining, the earth was without style and grace and a voice said: "Let there be BLANK". And there was Blank. BLANK was created in 2007 by a bunch of students in order to fill the cultural void at the University of Kassel with a biannual literary magazine. Over the years BLANK, has evolved from a merry stomping ground for literary experimentation into an ambitious, though still playful, platform. With a circulation of 500 copies, BLANK comes to life through critical and artistic student participation. As of now, and thanks to its persistant core members, BLANK is the longest running English literature magazine at a German university and will continue to spread style and grace. As time went by the texts grew longer and more aspiring, collaborations with visual artists were struck, and new sponsors attracted. In July 2015, the BLANK team has been awarded patronage by the Barbara & Alfred Röver-Stiftung for their enduring effort in support of the literary arts at the University of Kassel. "With the drawing of this Love and the voice of this Calling" (T.S.Eliot, Four Quartets) we are looking forward to continue this saga. |
